If you’re an owner or manager for a business, one of your top priorities should be facilitating your employees to be as productive and effective as possible. And while you might have certain ways that you’re already striving to do this, if you’re not currently concerned with your employees’ comfortability when they’re on the job, you’re forgetting a big factor in how efficiently your workforce is able to do their work. So to help you empower your staff members to love their jobs and feel great about the work they’re doing all day long, here are three tips for picking the right chairs for your employees to sit in during the day.
Look For Adjustability
For employers that are interested in having their staff use uniform equipment, it’s going to be very important that you choose to purchase a chair that has all types of adjustability. Because every person has a different type of body and varying needs for their physical support, having chairs that can adjust to every individual staff member will be crucial. According to Abe Abbas, a contributor to The Spruce, good chairs should be adjustable both in their height and in things like the backrest, armrests, and lumbar support. So if the staff chairs you’re considering buying don’t have this adjustability, keep looking for something that does.
Find The Right Material
Purchasing chairs that are made out of the right materials will also help to keep your staff comfortable and productive throughout the day. And although chairs with cheaper or fewer materials might save you money when you initially purchase them, Rodney K. Lefler, a contributor to Spine-Health.com, shares that chairs with extra padding and breathable cloth will prove to be much better for your staff. Even if this means spending a little more money right now, your company will be much better off long-term with a staff that’s happy and comfortable.
A Seat With Depth
Your staff can only be effective at completing their daily tasks if they’re able to be seated at their desks doing these tasks for the majority of the day. So to help encourage this, you’ve got to give them a seat that has the necessary depth. According to Taryn Williford, a contributor to Apartment Therapy, your employees should have two to four inches of space between the end of the seat and the back of their knees when they’re seated in the chair. Without this amount of space, the seat could put enough strain on their bodies that they need to be getting up to leave their seats and stretch their bodies more often than you might like for productivity purposes.
To keep your staff’s bodies feeling good all day long, consider using the tips mentioned above to help you pick the perfect desk chair for your entire workforce.
