3. Subscribe to your competitors sites and newsletters – Oh yes. Spying is essential when it comes to business. Since we don’t want to do anything unethical like planting a mole or bugging business meetings what you can do is read their latest public statements.
4. Try out your competitors products/services – If they have and edge over you then you need to react and make changes accordingly. Find out what the edge is by actually finding out what they have to offer. Note though that this strategy is NOT the best strategy. You want to be leading the pack and not just have a reactionary strategy!!! But even if you are ahead in terms of market share it is still good to check out your competition’s products and services because they might be onto something novel and useful…be careful about copyright infringement though!
5. Attend seminars, take classes, take time to learn – People says that education is never really over but many just pay lip service to this fact. Take this seriously and even though you sometimes feel that you might not lean anything new go ahead and attend seminars and conferences because even if you just learn ONE THING new that thing might make the difference in your business’ success. Furthermore it’s a great way to expand your network.
